HPC Architect

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a Senior HPC Architect to design and implement complex, high‑performance software solutions for its semiconductor and display equipment. The role works closely with cross‑functional teams to translate business needs into scalable, reliable, and maintainable architectures.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and design software solutions aligned with business goals and technical requirements.
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to define architectural designs.
• Develop and maintain architectural guidelines, standards, and best practices.
• Conduct technical reviews, mentor engineers, and mitigate technical risks throughout the development lifecycle.
• Evaluate and recommend technologies, frameworks, and optimization techniques for project success.

Required profile

• 12‑15 years of experience with a B.Tech/M.Tech/Ph.D. in Electronics or Computer Science.
• Proven track record as a Software Architect or similar role with 10+ years in product development.
• Strong fundamentals in C++/C programming and hands‑on experience with Python and its scientific libraries.
• Practical experience with GPU/CPU optimization techniques such as overclocking, memory optimization, load balancing, hyper‑threading, and SMT.

Required skills

• C++ / C programming
• Python programming (NumPy, OpenCV, pandas)
• GPU and CPU optimization techniques
• Knowledge of semiconductor domain (advantage)
• Digital Signal Processing (DSP) and Deep Learning concepts
• Computing design and benchmarking experience
