Hospital Cook – Therapeutic Diet Specialist

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Cook to join our hospital kitchen team, preparing nutritious meals for elderly patients. The role focuses on delivering therapeutic diets that meet specific medical and nutritional requirements while maintaining high standards of hygiene and presentation.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals according to the daily menu and dietician instructions.
• Produce therapeutic diets such as diabetic, low‑salt, soft, semi‑solid, and liquid meals.
• Ensure food quality, taste, temperature, and portion sizes before service.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen, utensils, and equipment.
• Store food items properly, monitor expiry dates, and manage inventory.
• Coordinate with dieticians, nursing staff, and kitchen personnel regarding patient dietary needs.
• Record food preparation details, inventory logs, and temperature checks.
• Report equipment issues or food safety concerns promptly.

Required profile

• SSLC/HSC or equivalent; culinary certificate or diploma preferred.
• 2–5 years of experience as a Cook in a hospital, nursing home, or institutional kitchen.
• Experience with therapeutic and special diets is an advantage.
• Ability to work shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Strong teamwork, communication, and compassion for elderly patients.
