Head of Legal – India

About the role

Invesco is seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Legal for its India entity, based in Hyderabad. The role will lead the legal function for Invesco (India) Private Limited, providing day‑to‑day advisory on employment law, commercial contracts, corporate secretarial and statutory compliance while acting as a trusted advisor to senior management.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality, timely, commercially focused legal advice to the Hyderabad management team.
• Oversee employment law matters, commercial contracting, company secretarial duties and statutory compliance for Invesco India.
• Provide strategic legal support and risk management across corporate, governance and dispute‑related issues.
• Lead and represent a team of legal professionals in Hyderabad, coordinating with functional managers in the United States.
• Ensure alignment of legal initiatives with Invesco’s global strategy and operational excellence.
• Escalate complex, novel, or high‑risk matters appropriately while managing routine matters independently.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a senior legal professional with hands‑on expertise in Indian employment law, commercial contracts and corporate secretarial matters.
• Strong ability to provide strategic counsel while handling day‑to‑day legal operations.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, capable of partnering with functional managers and senior leaders.
• Demonstrated leadership qualities, even though the role is not a traditional people‑manager position.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of Indian employment law.
• Expertise in commercial contracting and negotiation.
• Experience with corporate secretarial and statutory compliance requirements.
• Understanding of corporate governance and dispute resolution processes.
