GTM Engineer

About the role

This is the first dedicated GTM engineering hire at Plane, and you will build the function from the ground up. You will own outbound end‑to‑end, from ICP definition and list enrichment to sequencing, sending infrastructure, and routing replies to Sales with full context.

Key responsibilities

• Own outbound end‑to‑end and deliver qualified meetings and pipeline from cold outreach at a known cost per meeting.
• Turn Plane’s internal signals (GitHub activity, Docker pulls, self‑hosted installs, community threads, funding, hiring) into trigger‑based outreach plays.
• Segment prospects by deployment model and firmographics, tailoring messaging for cloud, self‑hosted commercial, and air‑gapped buyers.
• Maintain sender reputation across all domains: warm‑up, rotation, SPF/DKIM/DMARC, blocklist monitoring, and isolation of cold infrastructure.
• Build high‑volume account‑research agents, integrating LLM providers and custom tooling.
• Collaborate daily with Sales, Marketing, and Engineering to improve reply quality, handoff, and telemetry‑driven triggers.
• Perform ongoing maintenance: prune dead records, manage bounce‑rate issues, rebuild lists after provider degradation, and retire ineffective sequences.

Required profile

• Proven experience running cold outbound that generated measurable pipeline, with clear metrics on segment size, reply rates, and optimization actions.
• Hands‑on experience building and tuning orchestration platforms such as Clay, including enrichment waterfalls, provider fallbacks, and cost‑per‑record optimization.
• Deep understanding of email deliverability infrastructure (domains, warm‑up, SPF, DKIM, DMARC) and rapid response to spam placement.
• Delivered solutions that integrate Anthropic or OpenAI models, handling incorrect outputs and ensuring reliable operation.
• Ability to connect systems via SQL, APIs, webhooks, and custom code to join data layers, CRMs, and sequencers without waiting on engineering.
• Strong copywriting for technical buyers, adapting messaging for platform engineering leads versus VP‑level operations leaders.
