Graduate Apprentice Trainee – Mechanical Engineering

About the role

Volvo Group is looking for recent Mechanical or Automotive Engineering graduates to join its Trucks Technology & Industrial Division under the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS). You will work on real‑world projects that involve concept creation, multi‑material assemblies, and sustainable transport solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop concepts and designs according to stakeholder requirements.
• Work with plastic and sheet‑metal manufacturing processes such as injection, blow molding, vacuum forming, and press tooling.
• Perform part modelling, surfacing, assembly, and detailed drawing creation.
• Apply GD&T principles, draft analysis, and tolerancing to ensure design integrity.
• Support prototype manufacturing and secondary operations.

Required profile

• Fresh graduate (2023‑2026) with a B.Tech/B.E. in Mechanical Engineering.
• Strong engineering fundamentals; optional knowledge of CAD, FEM, tooling, and basic AI/ML.
• Good communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

Required skills

• CATIA V5 or Creo (optional but preferred).
• Knowledge of plastic part manufacturing and sheet‑metal processes.
• Understanding of GD&T and draft analysis.
• Basic FEM analysis.
• Familiarity with basic automation concepts (AI/ML).
