Geotechnical Engineer

About the role

Assystem is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to deliver design solutions for foundations, earthworks, slopes, retaining walls and underground structures across infrastructure projects.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare geotechnical designs, calculations, reports and specifications for foundations, earthworks, slope engineering, retaining walls, underground excavations and ground treatment.
• Take responsibility for small projects and review work of external consultants on larger, complex projects.
• Coordinate and supervise daily activities of the project team, allocate tasks and provide performance feedback.
• Lead the development and submission of proposals for routine and low‑risk projects.

Required profile

• First degree in engineering or geology with a recognised postgraduate geotechnical qualification or doctorate.
• 2‑4 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, including design of earthworks, slopes, retaining walls and underground structures.
• Experience managing small projects independently and mentoring junior engineers.

Required skills

• Geotechnical design of earthworks, slopes, retaining walls and underground structures.
• Knowledge of IS, IRC and relevant international codes.
• Proficiency with finite element software such as PLAXIS.
• Preparation and checking of design calculations, reports and specifications.
