General Manager – Ports

About the role

Assystem is seeking a senior leader to drive the detailed design and engineering of port and marine infrastructure projects in Chennai. The General Manager will own end‑to‑end delivery, P&L performance and client satisfaction for a portfolio of container terminals, bulk berths, jetties and related works.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the design and engineering strategy for diverse port assets, ensuring compliance with international codes (PIANC, BS, IS, Eurocodes).
• Lead multi‑disciplinary teams across civil, structural, mechanical, electrical and marine domains to produce complete design packages on schedule.
• Manage the P&L of the design vertical, driving revenue growth, cost efficiency and profitability.
• Support business development by shaping engineering scopes, methodologies and cost estimates for new proposals.
• Champion digital transformation through BIM, 3‑D modelling and simulation tools to improve design quality and productivity.

Required profile

• 20+ years of experience in port and marine infrastructure engineering, with at least 10 years in senior leadership and P&L responsibility.
• Proven track record delivering large‑scale port projects such as terminals, breakwaters and dredging works.
• Strong background in civil/structural/marine engineering (B.E./B.Tech, M.Tech/M.E. preferred).
• Demonstrated ability to manage large engineering teams and coordinate with EPC and construction partners.
