Full-Time Maintenance Technician I

About the role

The City of Trinidad is seeking a dedicated Maintenance Technician I to join its Public Works team. This full‑time position involves hands‑on work to keep streets, parks, and public facilities safe, clean, and welcoming for residents and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Perform minor maintenance on trucks and equipment, including greasing, washing, and checking oil and tires.
• Repair and maintain streets, sidewalks, signs, and traffic markings.
• Keep public grounds tidy by mowing, debris removal, snow and ice clearing, and brush trimming.
• Maintain parks, storm drains, catch basins, irrigation systems, and public restrooms.
• Operate snow‑removal equipment, sand, and salt roadways during winter weather.
• Load, haul, and stockpile materials such as sand, gravel, and brush.
• Set up safety barriers and warning devices to ensure a safe work environment.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed and respond to on‑call emergency situations.

Required profile

• Ability to perform strenuous physical labor and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Reliable attendance and willingness to participate in an on‑call rotation.
• Basic understanding of safety procedures and ability to follow city policies.
