Front End Operator Cum Maintainer

About the role

The Front End Operator Cum Maintainer is a key member of the shift operation team on the can‑making line. The role focuses on maximizing OEE of front‑end equipment (Cupper, Bodymakers & Trimmers) through operation, process monitoring and timely maintenance actions.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily operation, periodic inspection and preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance on front‑end machines.
• Execute safety checks on power presses, ensure quality specifications are met, and manage CCP‑Sliver in trimmers.
• Coordinate size changeovers, tool replacements and coil changes using SMED concepts.
• Monitor and control critical process indicators such as tramp oil concentration, coolant levels and short‑can rate.
• Participate in continuous‑improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, 5S, TPM) and maintain housekeeping and waste segregation standards.

Required profile

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Toolroom Technology or an ITI trade.
• 6‑10 years of maintenance/repair experience in a high‑speed, high‑volume manufacturing environment.
• Ability to work shifts and occasional extended hours.
• Willingness to follow SOPs, health‑and‑safety practices and environmental regulations.

Required skills

• Mechanical and hydraulic press maintenance.
• Preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance techniques.
• Troubleshooting of Cupper, Bodymaker and Trimmer equipment.
• Tool handling, replacement and periodic polishing.
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
• Computer literacy for generating maintenance reports.
