Forklift Material Handler – Weld Department

About the role

The Forklift Material Handler supports the weld department by pulling, staging, and delivering parts and fixtures needed for welding operations. The role ensures the right materials are available at the right time while adhering to safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Observe and promote BWISE Safety Standards on the shop floor.
• Follow the weld bay schedule and pull parts from specifications on pull sheets.
• Operate a forklift to move, stage, and present material on racks and carts.
• Prepare weld line fixtures and material for line change‑overs.
• Notify supervisors of part shortages before they affect production.
• Replenish material storage from deliveries or secondary locations.
• Assist with inventory control and perform other duties assigned by the Weld Supervisor.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read, write, count and communicate effectively.
• Capability to stand for an entire shift, lift up to 50 lb, and perform full range of motion tasks.
• Comfort working in extreme temperatures, dust, oil, welding fumes, and high noise levels.
• Use of required PPE such as steel‑toed shoes, safety glasses, earplugs and gloves.

Required skills

• Forklift operation.
• Reading pull sheets and tape measures to 1/16" accuracy.
• Basic inventory control.
• Knowledge of BWISE safety standards.
