Firefighter (Airport)

About the role

The Airport Firefighter is responsible for responding to aircraft and structural fire emergencies, medical incidents, hazardous material situations, and other emergencies within the airport environment. The role ensures the safety of passengers, crew, and airport staff through rapid firefighting, rescue, and emergency medical services.

Key responsibilities

• Respond promptly to aircraft incidents, structural fires, medical emergencies, hazardous‑material events, and other airport emergencies.
• Extinguish fires using water, foam, dry chemicals and other agents; conduct search and rescue in smoke‑filled or hazardous conditions.
• Provide first aid and basic life support (BLS) until advanced medical personnel arrive; assist with patient transport as needed.
• Perform daily inspections and maintenance of fire trucks, extinguishers, PPE and other equipment; manage inventory of firefighting supplies.
• Participate in routine emergency simulations, ICAO‑mandated training and fire drills.
• Maintain detailed incident reports, training records and shift logs for regulatory audits.
• Adhere to all local, state and federal regulations and follow established Standard Operating Procedures.

Required profile

• Ability to respond quickly to emergencies on airport property.
• Physical fitness to operate firefighting equipment and conduct rescues in hazardous environments.
• Capability to provide first aid and basic life support.
• Attention to detail for equipment inspection, maintenance and record‑keeping.
• Commitment to follow SOPs and regulatory requirements.
