Financial Controller

About the role

Maersk is seeking a Financial Controller to lead cost accounting and month‑end close activities across its global operations. The role will ensure accurate financial reporting, drive cost analysis, and support continuous improvement of finance processes.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the preparation and delivery of month‑end close reporting, including GL accounting and balance‑sheet reconciliation.
• Review, validate, and analyse cost records and trends per cost centre.
• Conduct moderately complex cost audits with limited supervision.
• Perform detailed cost variance analysis and explain cost drivers.
• Ensure all controls and compliance checks are performed and signed off on a periodic basis.
• Develop recommendations and implement process and system changes to reduce risk and improve productivity.
• Standardise and align finance processes across different company codes.

Required profile

• Solid financial education – Cost Accountant, Chartered Accountant or MBA in Finance.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in cost controlling, cost accounting, P&L analysis or related finance functions.
• Self‑motivated with a continuous improvement mindset.
• Excellent analytical and structured working method.
• High proficiency in written and verbal English.
• Ability to adapt to a fast‑changing environment and handle high‑workload periods.
• Team player who collaborates effectively.
• Experience in the shipping or transportation industry is a plus.
