Financial Controller

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accounting Manager/Controller to lead accounting and financial operations for a fast‑paced, high‑growth organization with activities in Canada and the United States. This hands‑on leadership position ensures financial accuracy, strengthens internal controls, and supports business growth through timely reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the monthly financial close, delivering accurate reports on schedule.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, collections and payment processes.
• Manage bank and channel‑partner reconciliations, as well as inventory, landed‑cost and PO adjustments.
• Handle general‑ledger reconciliations, financial reporting, and Canadian/US sales‑tax filings.
• Administer corporate credit‑card statements, duty‑claim accounting, and insurance/benefit accounting.
• Ensure compliance with Canadian accounting standards, US tax regulations, internal policies and audit requirements.
• Develop and strengthen internal financial controls and accounting policies.
• Identify opportunities for process automation and operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with senior leadership and cross‑functional teams on financial matters.

Required profile

• CPA designation or equivalent qualification in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• 5+ years progressive accounting/finance experience, including at least 3 years in a controller or senior accounting manager role.
• Experience in retail, multinational or consumer‑products environments is preferred.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong hands‑on experience with ERP systems; SAP experience preferred.
• In‑depth knowledge of financial reporting, inventory accounting, general‑ledger reconciliations, internal controls, and Canadian & US taxation.
