Financial Controller

About the role

Maersk is seeking a Financial Controller to lead month‑end close activities, cost accounting and balance‑sheet reconciliation across its global operations. The role combines analytical rigor with process improvement to ensure accurate financial reporting and support strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Manage preparation of month‑end close reporting and GL accounting.
• Perform balance‑sheet reconciliation and validate cost records.
• Analyse cost trends per cost centre and conduct moderately complex cost audits.
• Ensure all controls and compliance checks are performed and signed off.
• Provide detailed cost analysis, explain variances and identify cost drivers.
• Develop recommendations and implement process or system changes to reduce risk and improve productivity.
• Standardise and align financial processes across different company codes.

Required profile

• Solid financial education – Cost Accountant, Chartered Accountant or MBA in Finance.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in cost controlling, cost accounting or P&L analysis.
• Self‑motivated with a continuous‑improvement mindset.
• Excellent analytical and structured working method.
• High proficiency in written and verbal English.
• Ability to adapt to fast‑changing environments and handle high workload periods.
• Team player who collaborates effectively.
• Experience in shipping/transportation industry is a plus.
