Financial Controller – Australian Client

About the role

We are seeking a skilled Financial Controller to support an Australian client with end‑to‑end finance operations. The role involves preparing management accounts, overseeing payroll and tax compliance, and driving financial automation initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts, profit & loss statements and balance sheets.
• Manage general ledger, reconciliations and month‑end closing processes.
• Oversee payroll, superannuation, Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Instalment Activity Statements (IAS).
• Produce year‑end financial statements.
• Monitor work‑in‑progress (WIP), debtors, collections, realisation and recovery.
• Analyse profitability by principal and service line.
• Prepare monthly financial dashboards for principals.
• Manage cash‑flow forecasting and working capital.
• Lead annual budgeting, forecasting and scenario modelling.
• Analyse actual versus budget and support decision‑making.
• Maintain and optimise Xero and Xero Practice Manager (XPM) systems.
• Improve billing, WIP and expense‑control processes while driving automation, AI and digital finance initiatives.
