Financial Controller – APAC

About the role

A leading global organization is seeking a Controller for the APAC region to own end‑to‑end finance and accounting operations across India, the Philippines and Japan. Reporting to the VP of Finance, you will ensure accurate financial reporting, timely close processes, statutory compliance and act as a trusted finance partner to regional leaders.

Key responsibilities

• Lead full‑cycle monthly, quarterly and year‑end close, including journal entries, accruals, variance analysis and preparation of results for global consolidation.
• Oversee accounting operations across APAC entities – General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets and bank reconciliations.
• Ensure compliance with group policies, local standards and statutory requirements, managing GST/VAT filings and leading year‑end audits.
• Partner with regional business leaders on vendor management, PO creation, invoice approvals and expense classification.
• Collaborate with global Finance and IT teams to deploy and optimise ERP and reporting systems, driving automation of manual workflows.
• Manage a team of two direct reports and coordinate third‑party bookkeeping providers in Japan and the Philippines.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with a professional certification (CPA, CA, ACCA or CIMA).
• 10+ years of progressive finance experience, including APAC leadership and hands‑on reporting for India, Japan and the Philippines.
• Proven experience managing statutory audits and GST/VAT compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
• Strong interpersonal skills to act as a finance liaison with senior business leaders.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency with mid‑to‑large scale ERP systems such as NetSuite, SAP or QuickBooks.
• Expert‑level Microsoft Excel for financial reporting and analysis.
• Experience using approved Artificial Intelligence tools to enhance productivity and quality.
