Field Operator – Utility (ECH)

About the role

The Utility (ECH) Field Operator is responsible for the safe, reliable and efficient operation of utility systems within an industrial plant. Working on‑site, the incumbent monitors equipment, carries out routine tasks and supports the control room and maintenance teams to ensure uninterrupted plant performance.

Key responsibilities

• Perform field operations and routine monitoring of utility equipment in accordance with SOPs.
• Conduct regular rounds, inspections and leak checks, reporting any abnormalities to the shift in‑charge.
• Monitor pumps, valves, pipelines, instruments and other utility assets, coordinating with Maintenance and Instrumentation for corrective actions.
• Support start‑up, shutdown, isolation and other operational activities as required.
• Respond to emergencies, follow established response procedures and assist in stabilising equipment.
• Ensure strict compliance with Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) requirements, work permits and PPE usage.

Required profile

• Experience in utility or plant operations with a strong safety focus.
• Ability to work closely with control room, process, maintenance, electrical and instrumentation teams.
• Good observational skills to detect equipment issues, leaks or unsafe conditions.
• Willingness to participate in emergency drills and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required skills

• Knowledge of utility equipment (pumps, valves, pipelines, instruments).
• Familiarity with standard operating procedures and EHS regulations.
• Ability to read and interpret operational parameters and alarms.
