Engineering Manager

About the role

We are looking for an Engineering Manager based in Pune to lead the Zendesk product engineering teams. You will shape the engineering culture, drive delivery excellence and directly influence the Zendesk customer experience.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team of 10‑12 engineers through the full project lifecycle, ensuring successful outcomes.
• Collaborate with leaders in Engineering, Product Management, Marketing and Design to improve software delivery and service reliability.
• Guide the team through technical challenges, balancing new feature development with scalability and performance.
• Champion best practices in coding, testing and observability.
• Foster a high‑performance culture focused on clarity, ownership and impact.
• Conduct regular 1:1s to support performance, growth and well‑being.

Required profile

• 12+ years of industry experience with 3‑4 years in a technical leadership or management role.
• Proven mentor who inspires and empowers engineers.
• Strong communication and ability to influence cross‑functional stakeholders globally.
• Deep understanding of Agile Scrum and experience running scrum ceremonies.
• Ability to prioritize high‑impact work while balancing short‑term and long‑term goals.

Required skills

• Experience with JavaScript frameworks such as React or Angular.
• Proficiency in backend languages like Java or Ruby.
• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Hands‑on knowledge of system integration and observability.
• Agile Scrum methodology.
