Electromechanical Expert – Hydropower & Pumped Storage

About the role

We are seeking a skilled Electro‑Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design, engineering and execution of hydropower and pumped‑storage projects. The role focuses on detailed design and coordination of electro‑mechanical systems such as turbines, generators, balance‑of‑plant and associated electrical and mechanical equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop detailed designs, specifications, calculations and technical drawings for turbines (Francis, Pelton, Kaplan, reversible pump‑turbines), generators, transformers, switchgear and balance‑of‑plant systems.
• Review vendor drawings, ensure compliance with project requirements and coordinate mechanical and electrical disciplines for integrated system design.
• Prepare technical reports, design basis documents, BOQs, tender specifications and support bid preparation and technical evaluations.
• Provide engineering support during manufacturing, installation and commissioning, including review of FAT and SAT and troubleshooting performance issues.
• Interact with OEMs, consultants and contractors, evaluate vendor proposals and participate in technical negotiations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Electro‑Mechanical Engineering.
• 15‑20 years of experience in hydropower or pumped‑storage projects, with strong knowledge of turbine‑generator systems and E&M equipment.

Required skills

• Hydropower and pumped‑storage technology expertise.
• Power systems, protection schemes, grid integration and SCADA/control systems.
• Design of reversible pump‑turbines, variable speed machines, transient analysis, load flow and stability studies.
• Familiarity with IEC, IEEE and ISO standards, FAT and SAT procedures.
