Electrician – Installation, Maintenance & Repair

About the role

The Department of Facilities and Services is looking for a qualified Electrician to perform installation, inspection, repair, service and maintenance of electrical equipment, appliances, machinery and circuits across its facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect and repair electrical wiring, fixtures, appliances, motors, generators, pumps, power circuits and machine controllers.
• Install, maintain, inspect and service high‑ and low‑tension power and lighting feeders, relays, transformers, switches, outlets and signal systems.
• Oil, grease and maintain electrical fixtures and equipment, replacing worn parts as needed.
• Use test equipment such as ammeters, voltmeters and ohmmeters to diagnose issues.
• Perform emergency electrical repairs, troubleshoot malfunctions and ensure work complies with safety standards.
• Interpret electrical schematics, plans and specifications to guide work.
• Requisition, store, safeguard and properly use electrical materials and supplies.

Required profile

• Works under direction of senior staff and follows established procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, plans and specifications.
• Capability to use testing instruments (ammeters, voltmeters, ohmmeters) safely.
• Commitment to safety and ability to identify fire hazards or unsafe conditions.
