About the role
AECOM is seeking an experienced Electrical Field Engineer to supervise the installation, testing and pre‑commissioning of primary equipment in high‑voltage substation and HVDC projects. The role involves on‑site coordination of complex electrical systems, ensuring compliance with design documents and safety standards.
Key responsibilities
- Review approved electrical drawings, equipment layouts, erection manuals, method statements and ITPs.
- Supervise erection and installation of GIS/AIS equipment, circuit breakers, disconnectors, earthing switches, CTs, CVTs, VTs, surge arresters and insulators.
- Monitor installation of power transformers, converter transformers, reactors, filters and auxiliary transformers.
- Oversee gantry erection, flexible and rigid busbar stringing, jumper connections and sag‑tension verification.
- Coordinate installation of OPGW, shield‑wire, communication cables, earthing‑grid, cable‑tray systems and associated terminations.
- Verify installation of ACDB, DCDB, battery chargers, UPS, SCADA, SAS, telecom and metering panels.
- Witness pre‑commissioning tests, manage oil filtration, vacuum processing and equipment preservation activities.
- Maintain installation, test and punch‑list records and support system walk‑downs, energisation readiness and handover.
Required profile
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering.
- 5–8 years of experience in EHV substation installation.
- Proven experience with GIS/AIS, transformers, reactors, switchyard equipment, busbars and cabling.
- Knowledge of pre‑commissioning and equipment‑installation requirements.
Required skills
- GIS/AIS equipment installation.

- Current transformers (CT), voltage transformers (VT) and surge arresters.
- Power and converter transformer erection.
- Busbar (flexible and rigid) installation and tension verification.
