Director, Accounting

About the role

The Director, Accounting will lead settlement reconciliation, cash accounting and bank administration functions for Mastercard’s Global Business Service Center in Pune. The role partners with Accounting and Treasury leadership to drive operational excellence, manage financial risk and support innovative customer solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Management & oversight of settlement reconciliation, cash accounting and bank administration functions.
• Lead a team of managers delivering financial accounting and daily operating activities while managing financial risk.
• Transform processes using automation tools to deliver innovative customer solutions.
• Coordinate with GBSC, regional and business teams to ensure compliance with policies and controls.
• Evaluate financial and operational performance metrics and provide recommendations to senior leadership.
• Serve as escalation point for compliance and service level issues.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; MBA, CPA or Chartered Accountant preferred.
• Proven experience managing a diverse, multi‑functional accounting or finance group.
• Track record of delivering process improvements through design and build.
• Experience using metrics‑based performance management tools.
• Ability to build trusted relationships with business partners and handle high‑risk issues.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with urgency and accuracy.
