Design Lead – Solar (Civil / Structural)

About the role

The Design Lead (Civil / Structural) will oversee the engineering of solar PV power plants, ensuring high‑quality civil and structural designs from pre‑bid studies through commissioning and O&M. The role includes leading a team of design engineers and draughtspeople, coordinating with multiple disciplines, and supporting site execution as needed.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver engineering drawings and documents on schedule and within budget.
• Review and approve design calculations, vendor deliverables, and BOQ items.
• Coordinate inter‑departmental checks with electrical, instrumentation, and MEP teams.
• Estimate man‑hour requirements, plan resources, and submit technical clarifications to contracts.
• Provide technical support to the site execution team, including vendor evaluation and equipment inspection.
• Produce civil and structural design deliverables such as module mounting structures, control‑room layouts, inverter‑room foundations, grading, roads, drainage and outdoor steel structures.

Required profile

• B.E. / B.Tech in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• 8–14 years of experience in design of Solar PV power plants or power distribution projects.
• Proven ability to lead design teams and manage multi‑disciplinary coordination.

Required skills

• BIM 3D modelling for solar plant layouts.
• Civil and structural design of foundations, grading, roads, drainage and steel structures.
• Vendor engineering document review and BOQ preparation.
• Inter‑disciplinary coordination and technical clarification.
• Interpretation of soil reports, topographic surveys and general arrangement drawings.
• Design of module mounting structures, control‑room and inverter‑room civil works.
