Design Engineer - Solar (Civil / Structural)

About the role

The Design Engineer will be responsible for the complete civil and structural design of PV solar power plants, covering everything from module mounting structures to roads, drainage and building foundations. The role requires close coordination with electrical, instrumentation and mechanical teams to ensure engineering deliverables are completed on time, within budget and to high quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Timely review of drawings prepared by draftsmen.
• Detail design of civil and structural components such as steel mounting structures, buildings, roads, drainage, fences and cable trenches.
• Preparation and review of pre‑bid queries, DBR, BOQ and scope of work for proposal and project engineering.
• Propose optimisation ideas during pre‑bid and project stages to reduce costs.
• Ensure compliance with specification requirements and quality system checklists.
• Review vendor offers and engineering documents.
• Pre‑tender engineering including estimation of Bill of Materials and offer reviews.

Required profile

• 4–8 years of experience in design of Solar PV power plants, thermal power plants or power distribution projects.
• B.Tech in Civil Engineering or M.Tech in Structural Engineering.

Required skills

• Civil and structural engineering design for solar power plants.
• Preparation of BOQ, DBR and pre‑bid documentation.
• Vendor engineering document review.
• Estimation of Bill of Materials (BOM) for civil/structural works.
• Knowledge of specifications compliance and quality systems.
