Design Engineer – Secondary Substation (Electrical)

About the role

As a Design Engineer (Secondary) you will lead the secondary engineering activities for substation projects, focusing on protection and automation systems. You will work under the direction of the Design Lead (Secondary) and coordinate closely with vendors and site teams.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure timely completion of all deliverables.
• Review and validate Control Relay Panel (CRP) and automation drawings supplied by vendors.
• Interact with site execution and cluster teams to clarify equipment design.
• Coordinate with vendors to ensure compliance with technical specifications and quality standards.
• Prepare design calculations for CT/VT, battery sizing, and develop DC & AC single line diagrams.
• Review Bill of Materials and compare with tender quantities.
• Conduct pre‑tender engineering, including BOM estimation and offer reviews for secondary equipment.

Required profile

• B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical or Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in secondary engineering of substation projects.

Required skills

• Protection and automation systems for substations.
• Design and review of Control Relay Panels (CRP) and automation drawings.
• Design calculations for current transformers (CT), voltage transformers (VT) and battery sizing.
• Development of DC and AC single line diagrams.
• Bill of material review and estimation.
• Technical offer evaluation against client specifications.
