Design Engineer (Secondary) – Substation (Electrical)

About the role

Assystem is looking for a Design Engineer (Secondary) to work on substation projects in Chennai. The role focuses on secondary engineering design, calculations, and coordination with vendors and site teams to ensure timely delivery of high‑quality deliverables.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure timely completion of all deliverables.
• Review Control Relay Panels (CRP) and automation drawings prepared by vendors.
• Interact with Site Execution and Cluster teams for design clarifications.
• Coordinate with vendors to verify compliance with technical specifications, comments, and quality requirements.
• Collaborate with the primary design engineer to obtain client specifications and evaluation checklists.
• Evaluate technical offers against client requirements and submit them for review.
• Prepare design calculations for CT/VT, battery sizing, and develop DC & AC single‑line diagrams for substations.
• Review Bill of Materials and compare with tender quantities.
• Conduct pre‑tender engineering, including BOM estimation and offer reviews for secondary equipment.

Required profile

• B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in secondary engineering of substation projects.
• Strong understanding of protection & control scheme drawings, SCADA, and burden parameters of CT & CVT.
• Knowledge of national and international codes and standards.
