Design Engineer – Processing, Packaging & Automation

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Design Engineer to develop processing, packaging and special‑purpose machines for the food, pharmaceutical and chemical sectors. The role involves creating detailed mechanical designs, integrating automation, and supporting manufacturing from prototype to final commissioning.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop processing, packaging and SPM machines, preparing 2D & 3D models.
• Create machine layouts, general arrangement (GA) drawings, part drawings, BOMs and assembly drawings using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
• Collaborate with automation, electrical and control teams for PLC, servo and pneumatic integration.
• Ensure designs meet GMP, FDA, hygiene, safety and industry standards.
• Support fabrication, machining and assembly teams during build, and participate in FAT, SAT, commissioning and troubleshooting.
• Optimize designs for cost, performance, reliability and maintainability.
• Handle customer‑specific customisations and maintain project documentation.
• Coordinate with procurement and vendors for bought‑out components and monitor project timelines.

Required profile

• Diploma / BE / ME in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in food, pharma or chemical processing and packaging machinery, including SPM with automation.
• Hands‑on experience in machine design, validation documentation (DQ, IQ, OQ) is a plus.
• Ability to work onsite in Coimbatore and collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
