Design Engineer (Primary) - Substation (Electrical)

About the role

As a Design Engineer (Primary) you will prepare, review and execute primary engineering activities for substation projects, focusing on layout engineering and BIM 3D model development. You will design the substation layout and provide inputs to draftsmen for drawing production.

Key responsibilities

• Review and approve drawings prepared by draftsmen.
• Coordinate with site execution and cluster teams for equipment design clarifications.
• Interact with civil, structural, MEP and instrumentation disciplines to obtain design concurrence.
• Ensure compliance with specification requirements and quality systems.
• Review vendor offers, documents and pre‑tender engineering including BOM estimation.
• Prepare design calculations for busbars, UPS, DG, LT transformers, earthing conductors, short‑circuit forces and sag tension.

Required profile

• B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical or Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
• 4–7 years of experience in primary engineering design for substations or power distribution projects.

Required skills

• Layout engineering for substations.
• BIM 3D modeling and 2D/3D drawing review.
• Design calculations (busbar, UPS, DG, LT transformer, earthing, short‑circuit, sag tension).
• Bill of Materials estimation and vendor offer review.
• Coordination with civil, structural, MEP and instrumentation teams.
