Design Engineer – Primary Substation (Electrical)

About the role

As a Design Engineer (Primary) for substation projects, you will be responsible for preparing, reviewing and executing primary engineering activities, focusing on layout engineering and BIM 3D modelling. You will work under the direction of the Design Lead and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure compliant and high‑quality designs.

Key responsibilities

• Review and approve drawings prepared by draftsmen, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Coordinate with site execution, cluster teams and other disciplines (civil, structural, MEP, instrumentation) for design clarification and concurrence.
• Prepare design calculations for substation equipment such as busbars, UPS, DG, LT transformers, earthing conductors, short‑circuit forces and sag tension.
• Develop and support BIM 3‑D models for substations and assist modelers.
• Perform pre‑tender engineering, estimate Bill of Materials and review vendor offers and documentation.

Required profile

• B.E. / B.Tech. in Electrical or Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
• 4–7 years of experience in primary engineering design for substations or power distribution projects.
