Design Engineer – CAD & Automation Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a Design Engineer to create mechanical components, assemblies and specialised fixtures for the automation sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing detailed CAD models, generating comprehensive engineering drawings and supporting the implementation of projects on site.

Key responsibilities

• Develop accurate 2D and 3D CAD models for parts, sub‑assemblies and complete systems.
• Produce assembly drawings, part drawings and complete Bills of Materials (BoM) that meet industry standards.
• Design and detail spot‑welding and MIG‑welding fixtures tailored to specific project requirements.
• Interpret and apply engineering drawings, standards and GD&T specifications throughout the design process.
• Collaborate closely with manufacturing, tooling and fabrication teams to ensure designs are feasible and optimise production processes.
• Provide technical support and design verification during on‑site project execution and installation.
• Maintain up‑to‑date documentation of design changes and revisions.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in the automation industry, particularly in system, fixture and SPM design.
• Strong knowledge of CAD part design and practical application of GD&T.
• Proficiency in reading and understanding engineering drawings and relevant standards.
• Good understanding of manufacturing processes, tooling, machine operation and fabrication techniques.
• Competent use of MS Excel and MS Word for documentation and data management.
