Deputy Manager / Manager – Road & Highway

About the role

The Highway Design Manager leads and manages design and engineering activities for highways, expressways, roads and related transportation infrastructure. The role ensures delivery of design solutions that meet client requirements, national and international standards, and project timelines.

Key responsibilities

• Lead geometric design of highways, expressways, urban roads, interchanges and intersections.
• Review and approve alignment studies, profiles, cross‑sections and corridor plans for both plain and hilly terrain.
• Ensure compliance with IRC, MoRTH, NHAI, AASHTO and other applicable design standards.
• Coordinate pavement, drainage, traffic and structural design interfaces.
• Prepare and review feasibility studies, Detailed Project Reports and detailed engineering designs.
• Manage project schedules, budgets and resources for design activities, monitoring progress and mitigating risks.
• Conduct technical reviews of design deliverables, verify calculations, drawings and specifications before submission.
• Act as primary technical contact for clients, liaise with government authorities and address client comments.
• Lead, mentor and develop a team of highway engineers, designers and CAD/BIM professionals.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s in Transportation or Highway Engineering preferred).
• 12‑18+ years of experience in highway and road design projects, including NHAI, MoRTH, expressway and state highway projects.
• Proven experience managing multidisciplinary design teams.
• Professional certifications in transportation or project management are an advantage.
