Deputy Director – Senior Urban Planner

About the role

Surbanajurong is seeking a Deputy Director to lead senior urban planning initiatives across large‑scale master planning, urban development, and regional projects. The role combines strategic vision with hands‑on delivery, working closely with government bodies and key stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage large‑scale master planning, urban development, and regional planning projects.
• Develop strategic planning frameworks, land‑use plans, and urban growth strategies.
• Oversee preparation of DPRs, feasibility studies, planning reports, and statutory submissions.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams of planners, designers, architects, and infrastructure specialists.
• Engage with government authorities, development agencies, and stakeholders throughout project lifecycles.
• Provide technical guidance on planning regulations, development control norms, and policy frameworks.
• Drive project delivery, quality assurance, resource planning, and client management.
• Support business development, proposal preparation, and project presentations.
• Mentor junior and mid‑level planners and contribute to team capability development.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Urban Planning, Town Planning, or a related discipline.
• 15+ years of experience in urban planning, master planning, regional planning, and infrastructure development.
• Proven track record managing large‑scale government, smart city, township, industrial, or urban redevelopment projects.
• Strong understanding of Indian planning regulations, development control regulations (DCR), and statutory approval processes.
• Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
