Database Administrator (Mid-Level) – Microsoft SQL Server

About the role

Explorance, a fast-growing software company, is seeking a mid-level Database Administrator to join its CloudOps team in Chennai. The role focuses on implementing, configuring, maintaining, and optimizing Microsoft SQL Server databases that power the company’s SaaS applications. The position is onsite and requires strong technical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain on-premises Microsoft SQL Server databases across development, testing, and production environments.
• Manage Azure SQL Database instances, storage resources, and implement data-modeling techniques for scalability.
• Configure and monitor Always On Availability Groups, clustering, and develop backup and disaster-recovery strategies.
• Perform performance tuning, query optimization, indexing, and use monitoring tools to improve database efficiency.
• Implement security controls such as Transparent Data Encryption, Change Data Capture, and manage user access and auditing.
• Automate routine administration tasks with PowerShell and develop monitoring solutions for operational visibility.
• Collaborate with CloudOps, Development, and Infrastructure teams across global locations to support releases and business initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience as a Database Administrator with a focus on Microsoft SQL Server.
• Expert-level proficiency in T-SQL and experience with performance tuning and optimization.
• Hands-on experience administering Azure SQL Database and implementing High Availability/Disaster Recovery solutions.
• Knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, and strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and communicate effectively with distributed teams.
