Data Scientist I – Analytics & Reporting

About the role

Mastercard’s Product Data & Analytics team is looking for a Data Scientist I to help build large‑scale analytical capabilities that support global business decisions. You will work with regional and global teams to turn data assets into actionable insights that drive product development, revenue optimization, and go‑to‑market strategies.

Key responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and maintain advanced reporting and data‑visualisation solutions on large data volumes.
• Translate business requirements into clear technical specifications and deliver high‑quality, on‑time solutions.
• Create repeatable processes for modelling and reporting, ensuring data quality and consistency.
• Manipulate large‑scale databases, synthesize insights, and present findings using Excel and PowerPoint.
• Apply data validation, cleansing, and quality‑control procedures to new and existing data sources.

Required profile

• Experience in data management, mining, analytics, reporting, and quantitative analysis.
• Background in financial institutions or payments is a plus.
• Proficiency with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), Analysis Services (SSAS), and Reporting Services (SSRS).
• Advanced SQL skills for large‑scale (big data) queries.
• Familiarity with Cloudera Hadoop, big‑data technology stacks, SQL Server, and Microsoft BI tools.
• Experience with data‑visualisation tools such as Tableau or PowerBI.
• Knowledge of Python or R for analytical tasks.
• Strong problem‑solving, quantitative, and analytical abilities.
