Data Engineer

About the role

The Data Engineer will join the Engineering, Tooling & Data Services team to support a wide range of data‑related services across technology, including analytics, data management, audit support, compliance, reporting and risk management. The role contributes to strengthening ANZ’s data governance capabilities and ensuring alignment with enterprise frameworks.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure data‑related services comply with the ANZ Enterprise Governance Framework and the I.AM Framework.
• Develop practical guidelines that streamline processes while maintaining policy alignment.
• Assist the Data Manager in cross‑domain working groups to raise data governance maturity.
• Monitor the health and lifecycle of Critical Data Elements (CDEs).
• Track, manage and drive timely resolution of Data Quality Issues (DQIs).
• Support audit procedures, compliance assessments and risk mitigation initiatives.
• Partner with stakeholders to maintain transparency, accountability and continuous improvement in data governance.

Required profile

• 4–6 years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management or related data roles.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a passion for data.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience supporting senior stakeholders in workshops and governance forums.
• Strong collaboration skills and sound judgement in decision‑making.

• Data governance tools: Collibra, Informatica, IBM Infosphere, Watson.
• Programming & scripting: Python, SQL, Bash, PowerShell.
• Data quality & reporting: Informatica DQ, Qlik, Tableau, Power BI.
• Databases: SQL Server, Oracle, Snowflake, Teradata, Hadoop.
• Cloud (desirable): Azure Data Factory, Databricks.
• Agile tools: JIRA, Confluence, SharePoint.
