Data Engineer

About the role

As a Data Engineer in ANZ’s S&E Data & Analytics Capability tribe, you will design and implement data processing solutions that enable analytics, reporting and data development across the division. You will work closely with business and technology partners to deliver robust, fault‑tolerant pipelines that turn raw, unstructured data into reliable data assets.

Key responsibilities

• Design data structures for ingestion, integration and consumption across on‑premise and cloud environments.
• Collaborate in a cross‑skilled squad to build end‑to‑end features that support business analytics.
• Develop, optimise and maintain data pipelines using tools such as Airflow, Control‑M and ELT/ETL frameworks.
• Apply AI‑assisted tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) to improve pipeline efficiency and code quality.
• Ensure data security and privacy compliance throughout the data lifecycle.

Required profile

• Proficiency with Python, SQL and Unix/Linux scripting.
• Experience using version‑control systems (Git, Bitbucket) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms and native databases.
• Understanding of data security policies, privacy principles and basic Agile practices.
• Strong problem‑solving, communication and critical‑thinking abilities.
