Data Center Technician, Global Server Ops

About the role

Google's Hardware Operations team is looking for a Data Center Technician to install, configure, test, troubleshoot and maintain servers, networking gear and related software in a cutting‑edge data‑center environment. You will work on both routine hardware tasks and more complex network configurations while supporting the infrastructure that powers Google services.

Key responsibilities

• Deploy, maintain and support current and new data‑center servers and network infrastructure.
• Diagnose and repair faulty equipment, including servers, networking and storage devices.
• Install and maintain switches, routers, hubs, bridges and other large‑scale networking gear.
• Lead small project teams or sub‑functional groups on larger installations and develop contingency plans.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems, computer/server hardware or networking protocols.
• Experience performing component‑level repairs on IT equipment.
• Ability to work non‑standard hours, including weekends, holidays and shift‑based schedules.
• Preferred: background in technical support operations, network diagnostics, Linux administration, hardware, and project management.
