Cost & Inventory Control Accountant

About the role

The Cost & Inventory Control Accountant is responsible for monitoring inventory, calculating product costs, valuing inventory, and performing margin analysis. The role works closely with Finance, Warehouse, Procurement, Logistics and Sales to ensure accurate records and timely identification of issues.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor inventory across warehouses, reconcile physical stock with ERP balances, and investigate discrepancies.
• Coordinate periodic physical and cycle counts, track ageing, slow‑moving and obsolete stock, and recommend adjustments.
• Maintain accurate product/SKU costing, calculate landed costs, review purchase price variances, and analyse gross margins.
• Reconcile inventory sub‑ledger to the General Ledger, review GRNs, and support month‑end closing and COGS reporting.
• Ensure inventory transactions and master data are correctly maintained in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and monitor compliance with control procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• 3–6 years of experience in cost accounting, inventory accounting or inventory control, preferably in trading, distribution or manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of inventory accounting, costing, reconciliations and landed costing.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and advanced Excel skills.
• Professional qualification such as ACCA, CMA, CA or equivalent is an advantage.
