Controlling Specialist – Finance & Digitalization

About the role

The Controlling Specialist will support the GD/C Digitalization Controlling & Finance team by delivering accurate cost analysis, budgeting and reporting for the assigned business area. You will work closely with the Finance Manager and provide insights that drive strategic decisions within the BASF Group.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct cost analysis, monitoring, reporting and budgeting for the assigned business area.
• Liaise with the Finance Manager and provide actionable recommendations.
• Deliver reliable financial information to support management decision‑making and strategic planning.
• Manage month‑end and year‑end closing processes, forecasting and budget planning.
• Lead automation and continuous‑improvement initiatives, including reporting automation.
• Monitor project cost accounting and ensure accurate tracking.
• Prepare and present clear financial reports to management.
• Coordinate ad‑hoc analyses and respond to management inquiries.
• Ensure compliance with BASF Group accounting and controlling guidelines.
• Conduct training sessions for stakeholders to promote smooth processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Controlling or Accounting.
• Several years of relevant experience in business or controlling functions preferred.
• Strong analytical and numerical skills with the ability to work independently and in a team.
• High service orientation, proactive mindset and continuous‑improvement attitude.
• Excellent communication skills in English; German is a plus but not mandatory.
