Consultant - Demand & Supply Planner

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Consultant – Demand & Supply Planner to lead demand forecasting, supply planning and S&OP activities for a global energy‑management specialist. You will work on‑site in Chennai, collaborating with cross‑functional teams to ensure accurate forecasts, timely shipments and optimal inventory levels.

Key responsibilities

• Own customer forecast management, including validation, trend analysis and consolidation.
• Conduct demand reviews, align priorities with Sales and translate demand into supply requirements.
• Monitor Clear‑to‑Build status, identify material constraints and prioritize supply.
• Coordinate production plans with manufacturing, procurement and logistics.
• Manage inventory allocation, order prioritisation and weekly shipment plans.
• Track delivery performance (OTD/OTIF), monitor open orders and proactively escalate risks.
• Lead backlog reviews and develop recovery plans for delayed shipments.
• Prepare weekly/monthly S&OP dashboards and executive reports covering demand, supply, production and backlog.
• Track planning KPIs such as forecast accuracy, bias, demand plan adherence and production plan attainment.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a demand and supply planner or consultant in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret forecast data and identify upside/downside trends.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management abilities to work with Sales, Manufacturing, Procurement and Logistics.
• Detail‑oriented and capable of managing multiple planning cycles simultaneously.
