Connection Design Manager

About the role

JMT Consultants Detailing Private Limited, a global leader in steel detailing, engineering and API development, is seeking a Connection Design Manager to join its dedicated team in Bangalore. The role focuses on coordinating steel connection projects, ensuring schedules are met and client standards are upheld.

Key responsibilities

• Design and analyze steel structures and connections using Excel, manual calculations, and software such as Ram Connection, RISA Connection, Idea Statica, Bluebeam, Trimble Connect and Revit.
• Prepare standard connection catalogues, calculation reports, design basis reports and drawing packages for client delivery.
• Review 3‑D BIM models, shop drawings and fabrication drawings to verify compliance with design intent and AISC standards.
• Coordinate with internal departments and the North America team, track schedules, and ensure timely delivery of all deliverables.
• Lead a team of 5‑10 members, conduct meetings and maintain high communication and teamwork standards.

Required profile

• 12+ years of experience as a Connection Design Engineer in steel structures.
• Strong knowledge of AISC standards, relevant building codes and steel connection types (shear, moment, brace, truss, etc.).
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering (B.Tech/B.E/M.Tech) and any relevant postgraduate qualification.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Ram Connection, RISA Connection, Idea Statica, Bluebeam, Trimble Connect and Revit.
• Advanced Excel skills for calculations and data management.
• Expertise in structural calculations, statics, dynamics and mechanics of materials.
• Experience reviewing BIM models and shop drawings.
