About the role
The Commodity Life Cycle Manager (CLCM) is accountable for the end‑to‑end health, sustainability and lifecycle management of assigned commodity portfolios at Applied Materials. The role ensures supply continuity, product reliability and cost optimisation by proactively managing component risks, supplier alignment and obsolescence forecasting.
Key responsibilities
- Own the lifecycle strategy for assigned commodities, maintaining roadmaps that align with product plans and supplier technology transitions.
- Monitor portfolio health, identify standardisation opportunities and drive preferred‑part adoption.
- Assess lifecycle risks such as OEM end‑of‑life, supplier discontinuances, single‑source exposure and geopolitical factors, and develop mitigation plans.
- Forecast obsolescence events, build replacement strategies and reduce reactive engineering effort through planned interventions.
- Lead selection, qualification and engineering validation of alternate parts, managing ECR/ECO and product change activities.
- Establish strategic relationships with key suppliers, review their technology roadmaps and influence plans to minimise disruption.
- Coordinate cross‑functional governance with product line managers, design engineering, supply chain, manufacturing and service teams.
- Maintain lifecycle intelligence tools, dashboards and analytics to support data‑driven decision making and digital transformation initiatives.
