Closure Design Engineer – Automotive Exterior Components

About the role

The Closure Design Engineer will be responsible for designing exterior components of passenger vehicles, ensuring optimal packaging, material selection, and manufacturability. The role supports the full product development lifecycle from concept through production validation.

Key responsibilities

• Design exterior closure components using UG NX and Teamcenter, considering packaging constraints and material properties.
• Develop detailed 3‑D models and 2‑D drawings, applying GD&T and tolerance analysis.
• Collaborate with suppliers for part development, prototype testing, and validation (DV & PV).
• Perform DFMEA to identify and mitigate potential failure modes.
• Ensure designs are optimized for manufacturability and assembly, covering both sheet‑metal and plastic parts.

Required profile

• 3‑9 years of experience in automotive exterior component design.
• Proven ability to work across all stages of the product development lifecycle.
• Experience interacting with suppliers and conducting part testing.
• Strong understanding of material selection, thickness, and grade considerations.
