Chief Rolling Stock Expert – High-Speed Rail

About the role

SYSTRA is seeking a Chief Rolling Stock Expert to lead the design, procurement and integration of high‑speed rolling stock for upcoming semi‑high speed rail bids in India. The role is pivotal in ensuring that locomotives and coaches meet performance, safety and reliability targets for speeds above 160 km/h.

Key responsibilities

• Define technical specifications, design and procurement strategy for rolling stock (locomotives and coaches).
• Validate high‑speed performance aspects such as aerodynamics, ride comfort, traction/braking and energy efficiency.
• Manage system interfaces with signalling (ETCS on‑board units), power supply and track infrastructure.
• Lead the Testing & Commissioning programme, including dynamic tests, type tests and proving runs.
• Ensure compliance with international (UIC, EN) and local safety, RAMS and regulatory standards.
• Develop long‑term maintenance and depot planning concepts.
• Provide technical input for contract management and design revisions.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in rolling stock design and high‑speed rail projects.
• Deep knowledge of safety standards, RAMS and regulatory compliance for high‑speed trains.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex technical interfaces.
• Strong background in testing, validation and commissioning of railway vehicles.
