Chief Rolling Stock Design & Specification Engineer / Project Manager

About the role

SYSTRA is seeking a senior professional to lead rolling stock design, specification and project management for upcoming metro bids in India. The role combines technical leadership with vendor and contract oversight to ensure safe, reliable, and cost‑effective train delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Define core technical specifications for car‑body structures, propulsion (VVVF) and bogie dynamics to meet crashworthiness and stability criteria.
• Lead global vendor management, conduct quality audits at assembly plants and approve Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT).
• Coordinate the kinematic envelope with civil/tunnel teams and ensure seamless integration of CBTC signaling equipment on‑board.
• Manage multi‑million‑dollar procurement schedules, aligning train delivery with track and signaling readiness.
• Direct high‑speed stability trials and service drills to obtain final CMRS safety authorization for commercial operation.
• Develop long‑term maintenance manuals and specify heavy machinery for a 30‑year depot lifecycle.

Required profile

• Graduate degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Minimum 20 years total professional experience, including at least 15 years on rolling stock or related railway projects.
