Cashier

About the role

The Cashier is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and operations at a bank branch in line with internal and external banking guidelines. The role ensures accurate processing, proper record‑keeping, and end‑of‑day reconciliation while delivering courteous service to customers.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders and other instruments within authorized limits.
• Disburse cash for withdrawal requests and collect cash against deposit challans.
• Collect loan repayments as per EMI schedules and maintain corresponding system entries.
• Maintain inward/outward registers, petty‑cash and asset registers; submit requisition forms to the Regional Head Office.
• Perform daily cash tally, prepare the End‑of‑Day branch report, and manage the branch vault jointly with the Operations Officer.
• Interact with customers during deposits and withdrawals, identify cross‑sell opportunities, and educate them on alternate channels.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, bank policies, and defined turnaround times for transactions.
• Validate customer authenticity for cash withdrawals and verify cash deposit slips for audit purposes.

Required profile

• Experience in cash handling and banking operations.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate registers.
• Excellent customer service skills and ability to communicate clearly.
• Capability to work collaboratively with branch staff and adhere to compliance standards.
• Reliability in handling cash, keys and other valuables in safe custody.
