Cashier – Branch Banking

About the role

The Cashier is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and operations at a bank branch, ensuring compliance with internal and external banking guidelines. The role supports the Branch Operation Manager by maintaining accurate registers, performing end‑of‑day reconciliations, and delivering superior customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders and other instruments within authorized limits.
• Disburse cash for withdrawal requests and collect cash for deposit challans.
• Collect loan repayments as per EMI schedules and update system entries.
• Maintain inward/outward registers, petty cash, and asset registers; submit requisition forms to the Regional Head Office.
• Perform daily cash tallying, prepare end‑of‑day reports, and ensure accurate vault operations jointly with the Operations Officer.
• Interact with customers, identify cross‑selling opportunities, and educate them on alternate banking channels.
• Adhere to defined turnaround times for all transactions and ensure compliance with bank policies and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Strong attention to detail and ability to handle cash accurately.
• Good numerical aptitude and experience in cash reconciliation.
• Excellent customer service orientation and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with branch staff and follow established procedures.
• Basic understanding of banking regulations and cash handling guidelines.
