Cashier (Branch Banking)

About the role

The Cashier is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and operations at a branch, ensuring compliance with internal and external banking guidelines. This full‑time position supports the smooth functioning of the branch by handling cash, cheques, drafts, and other instruments while delivering excellent customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders, and cash withdrawals within authorized limits.
• Disburse cash for withdrawal requests and collect cash for deposit challans.
• Maintain inward/outward registers, petty cash, and assets registers; submit requisitions to the Regional Head Office.
• Perform daily cash tallying, end‑of‑day reconciliation, and report results in the Branch report.
• Jointly manage the branch vault and cash custody with the Operations Officer.
• Interact with customers, address queries, and promote cross‑selling of bank products.
• Ensure compliance with turnaround times, regulations, and bank policies for all cashier operations.
• Validate customer authenticity during cash withdrawals and verify cash deposit slips for audit purposes.
