Cashier (Branch Banking)

About the role

The Cashier is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and operations at a branch, ensuring compliance with internal and external banking guidelines. The role involves accurate processing of deposits, withdrawals, and loan repayments while maintaining proper records and providing excellent customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders and other instruments within authorized limits.
• Disburse cash for withdrawal requests and collect cash for deposit challans.
• Collect loan repayments as per EMI schedules and update system entries.
• Maintain inward/outward registers, petty‑cash register, and assets register; send requisition forms to the Regional Head Office.
• Perform daily cash tallying, end‑of‑day reporting, and vault operations jointly with the Operations Officer.
• Interact with customers, address queries, cross‑sell bank products, and educate them on alternate channels.
• Ensure adherence to turnaround times, regulatory compliance, and bank policies for all cashier operations.

Required profile

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in cash handling.
• Good customer service orientation and ability to communicate clearly.
• Understanding of banking guidelines and cash‑management procedures.
• Ability to work collaboratively with branch staff and senior officers.
