Cashier (Branch Banking)

About the role

The Cashier is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and operations at a branch, ensuring compliance with internal and external banking guidelines. The role involves accurate processing of deposits, withdrawals, and loan repayments while delivering courteous customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders, and other instruments within authorized limits.
• Disburse cash for withdrawal requests and collect cash for deposit challans.
• Collect loan repayments according to EMI schedules and maintain appropriate system entries.
• Maintain inward/outward registers, petty cash, and assets registers; submit requisitions to the Regional Head Office.
• Perform daily cash tally, end‑of‑day reconciliation, and report results in the Branch report.
• Jointly manage the branch vault and cash custody with the Assistant Branch Manager.
• Provide accurate information on repayment dates, product offerings, and alternate banking channels.
• Ensure adherence to turnaround times, regulatory compliance, and bank policies for all cashier operations.

Required profile

• Experience in cash handling and banking operations.
• Strong attention to detail for accurate transaction processing.
• Ability to deliver superior customer service and handle inquiries courteously.
• Understanding of bank policies, compliance requirements, and audit procedures.
